About Us

Women supporting each other

Our Commitment to the Community

RhemaHaven was founded to address a critical need within the Calgary community: a safe, emergency shelter specifically for BIPOC women and their children who are fleeing domestic violence and abuse. We understand that escaping such situations involves immense courage and that victims often face significant financial and systemic barriers.

Our core purpose is to relieve poverty by providing not just a roof over their heads, but also the necessities of life—food, clothing, and personal care items. We believe that by removing the immediate fear of homelessness, we empower women to take the first step towards a new life of freedom, safety, and independence.

Our Mission

To provide immediate, safe, and supportive shelter for BIPOC women and children fleeing abuse in Calgary, empowering them with the resources and necessities to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Our Vision

We envision a community where every woman and child has a safe place to turn to in a crisis, free from violence, and has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.

Our Impact in Calgary

Domestic violence is a pressing issue. Your support helps us provide critical services and create tangible change in the lives of vulnerable families.

In Calgary, the need for emergency shelters for those fleeing domestic violence consistently exceeds capacity. According to recent city reports, domestic conflict calls remain one of the top priorities for emergency services.

  • Shelters provide a critical escape route, significantly increasing safety and well-being for victims.
  • Access to a safe haven empowers women to seek further help and break the cycle of abuse.
  • Children who are removed from violent environments show better long-term emotional and developmental outcomes.

RhemaHaven aims to directly address these needs by increasing shelter availability and providing integrated support services.
